Manly’s 2016 Seniors Festival program is out!

24 Mar 2016

There’s something for everyone in this year’s Manly Council Seniors Festival program.

The 2016 Festival features more than 50 activities and events for residents to enjoy.

This year’s Festival theme is ‘Grow Young!’  So, whether you’d like to participate in physical activity, enrich the mind, learn new skills, or just have fun and socialise, be sure to get a copy of the free Festival program.

Copies are available from Manly Council Town Hall (1 Belgrave Street), Manly Library (Market Lane), Manly Seniors Centre (275 Pittwater Road) and the Manly Andrew Boy Charlton Swim Centre (corner of Balgowlah and Kenneth Roads).

Otherwise, download a free copy from Council’s website here or call 9976 1566.

Neighbour Day

Tomorrow is Neighbour Day (27 March), Australia's annual celebration of community, bringing together the people next door, across the street, or on the next farm for a beer, a barbie or just a cuppa.

Held on the last Sunday in March every year, Neighbour Day is the perfect day to say ‘thanks for being a great neighbour and for being there when I needed you most’.

The principal aim of Neighbour Day is to build better relationships with the people who live around us, especially the elderly and vulnerable.

As local Councils know better than most, neighbours are important because good relationships with others can and do change communities.

Social connection also makes us feel better as it helps prevent loneliness, isolation and depression.
