International Women’s Day 2016

19 Feb 2016

Manly Council is hosting a fun, social breakfast to help celebrate International Women’s Day 2016.

All proceeds from the charity fund-raiser will go to Bear Cottage, which provides support, respite and end-of-life care for children with life-limiting conditions.

Our Council International Women’s Day charity event will be held from 7.00am to 9.00am on Tuesday 8 March 2016 at Manly Golf Club’s beautiful function rooms.

Putting women and women’s rights to equality on the global agenda is the moving force behind International Women’s Day.

Tickets are only $36.

A donation to ‘Bear Cottage’ is included in the ticket price and a raffle with many exciting prizes will also be on offer, too!

Manly Oval Stormwater Detention Project

Work has begun on the Manly Oval Stormwater Detention Project involving construction of an in-ground stormwater detention system to reduce the risk of flooding and associated vehicle and pedestrian hazards near to Raglan Street and Pittwater Road.

The system will divert water from an existing underground stormwater pipe network into the new detention system with approximately one mega litre of in-ground storage and network capacity to manage peak flows during storm events.

The project will upgrade pits and pipes in Raglan Street and provide a system to manage gross pollutants from the catchment among other features to improve the quality of stormwater flowing into the ocean at Manly Beach.

Work on the project may take about four months. The Manly Marlins Rugby Club should be able to return to the Oval mid-April.
